How To Improve Your Google Ranking

There are some misconceptions out there that if you have great SEO on your website this is what dictates your Google ranking and although I wish that were true, it isn’t. It takes a lot more than that to move to that first page. Research shows that on average the sites that rank number one took 2 years to get there. Want to know what they did? Keep reading.

If your goal is to get to that coveted first page here are a few simple things you can do to improve your Google ranking.

A study showed that the top four ranking factors are website visits, time on site, pages per session, and bounce rate.

Here are some tips to make that happen!

BLOGGING

Blogs are an incredible way to move up the ranks. Google wants to see your site get hits and when you are pumping out new content to have viewers continually revisit your website.

Not only does this help your ranking but you are providing more valuable content to your audience. Win. Win.

LINKS

Within your website the more links you have to outside sites and within your own site helps the little Google crawlers find you. So anytime you mention something you could link (without overdoing it) go for it!

This is also important on the flip side, the more trusted websites who have links to your website, the better!

PHOTOS

All the photos on your website should be saved with keywords. Not “image123456”

A GREAT WEBSITE/USER EXPERIENCE

This one may seem obvious but this is critical. A website has so many factors to make it good. From design, user experience, marketing, psychology, functionality, data research, branding, website copy, this all needs to be done well to ensure Google can find you AND viewers are staying on your site!

If you aren’t sure if your website has these critical foundation elements, get with me for a website audit. This can be so helpful and a great investment in your business!

MARKETING EFFORTS

Your website is home base and your marketing should be directing viewers back to it, always.

The better your marketing efforts with social media, email marketing, etc. the more clicks your website will get and when your website is providing viewers valuable information (through blogs) the longer they stay. Thus, increasing your ranking.

All said and done the primary focus for anyone should be producing valuable content on their website and marketing channels.

OINGOING WEBSITE UPDATES

Google likes to know you are keeping your website updated. Make sure you are keeping things fresh. Always updating your portfolio, new testimonials, galleries, services, updating photos, etc.

This shows Google that you are a reputable source which will result in higher rankings and more visitors to your site.
