Hey Prospect, I am Breaking Up With You

I was never a big fan of breaking up with a prospect or lead until I bugged them over and over until the point of embarrassment for myself.

Technology made us rude. There’s literally no shame or consequence simply ignoring someone’s call or emails. For those of us working hard to generate leads and interest it’s frustrating. We constantly doubt our approach and feel like giving up.

Your follow up cadence matters but in addition to this; the way you part ways with a prospect or lead matters.

Here are 3 sample “break up” scripts when you feel like you’re getting nowhere…

1. Short and Sweet:

Hi (name),

I’ve made a few attempts to connect about your interest in (product, service, sale).
I certainly have no intention to bug you and I know life just gets busy!

I’d love to chat with you about (try including why they reached out). If I don’t hear back from you I’ll assume you went another direction.

Warm regards,
Your name

2. The Challenger:

Hi (name),

I hope you are keeping well. I reached out a few times about our discussion about (product/service). Have you decided to give up on (use what they told you was important to them-a pain point).

If you’re still motivated to get started; connect with me and let’s get things moving for you.

Regards,
Your name

3. Let’s Start Over:

Hi (name),

I made a few attempts to connect with you but I haven’t heard back so I’ll assume this (product or service) isn’t a priority at the moment. I understand and don’t want to take up anymore of your time.

I’ll check back with you in 6 months and see if we are more aligned at that time!
