How To Best Prepare For Your Branding Photoshoot
THE LOCATION
Location is a huge part of your shoot and becomes the backdrop of your brand. When selecting a studio be sure it represents exactly what you are wanting to achieve.
It is also important to know whether the location of choice has natural light or not and whether your photographer brings their own. (MWD photographers are natural light photographers and therefore do not bring lights to any shoots.)
WHAT TO WEAR
It's important that your brand is cohesive on all platforms in all media. Make sure your outfit for the shoot hits exactly the brand identity you are envisioning.
Your brand's colour palette that we have established is the best reference for choosing outfits, props, etc.
Or black + white, can't ever go wrong with black + white!
Neutral, limited patterned clothing shoots perfectly and will work with everything
Should your shoot include others, ensure you are coordinating, but not matchy-matchy!
We suggest to wear something that’s comfortable and something you feel great in!
At least 3 outfit options is more than enough per hour
It's all in the details - ensure you have thought through everything from head to toe, or "H to T" as Tyra Banks would say.
THE SHOTS
I want you to imagine the pages of your website and try to capture photos for each page.
For example, if we have a page for a certain service, get some shots that represent that service. Or if there is a page on contacting you perhaps a detailed shot of your hands holding a phone or at a computer.
Also prepare for the following:
1. Portraits of you at a workspace - these photos would consist of a combination of you doing work at the space and then some lifestyle headshots, the fun, relaxed kind that show your personality ;)
2. Photos of your work space or work tools (laptop, camera, paint brush, make up tools, etc.) - wide shots of your space and detail shots of your space
3. Any shots that you would like to have taken that showcase your work/process for your business.
